VCA prepares forensic expertizes and opinions on the causes of traffic accidents. For this activity, we use standard software Virtual Crash v.3.0 and 2.2 developed for virtual analyses of traffic accidents by VIZI. This software is based on algorithms of solving a system of equations of motion of Multi Body Systems (MBS) called Newton-Euler dynamics. This approach works only with rigid bodies.
For particularly complex cases, we use powerful software PAM-Crash v. 2016 from ESI France, which is based on finite element method (FEM) can solve strongly nonlinear dynamic problems of crashes with fully deformable models of vehicles or their components. Software PAM-Crash is usually used in leading Automotive companies worldwide to develop new safe vehicles. It is also used in the VW group companies as VW, Audi, Skoda, SEAT, Bentley and Lamborghini. Software uses very sophisticated and scalable model of virtual human - Virthuman developed exclusively for a human injury evaluation, for instance for vehicle and pedestrian crash simulations.
To tune well the mechanical properties of the material models used in the simulation we often also perform various laboratory tests and measurements of individual vehicle components.
This procedure is not usually applied in conventional forensic expert practical use because of the complexity and cost of such simulation software / hardware which is beyond the capabilities of conventional experts, expert agencies or institutions.
